Henry in Memory
He came he went, but what a life between.
From boy to man he walked this earth with pride.
Suich a gentle man but strong of will.
He was there, he saw the terrors of the war.
And kept it hidden many a year, for his mind.
Marrieage and family came, the joys of life.
Life marched on, comrades, friends come and gone.
Then in the latter years his thoughts turned back.
He taught the younger ones of what he knew.
About the poppy fields and why they grew.
Then time ran out, as for all of us.
His name will last for all this time.
For what he was and for his dignity.
At last at rest this proud warrior.
